Web Conferencing for on-line learning

(Fred Dixon) #1

This may be of interest to the GitHub Education Community.

We’ve been working on BigBlueButton, an open source web conferencing system for on-line learning, for over seven years. Our goal for the project is to provide remote students a high-quality online learning experience.

BigBlueButton enables real-time sharing of audio, video, slides, chat, desktop, polls, and emoji. It has deep integrations with other open source learning management systems such as Moodle and Canvas.

The project is hosted at

https://github.com/bigbluebutton/bigbluebutton

and the documentation (including steps to install) are here

http://docs.bigbluebutton.org/

We’ve been forked over 3,000 times on GitHub. If your looking for open source solutions for teaching your students on-line in a live synchronous classroom, we are building BigBlueButton for you.

Don’t hesitate to post a follow-up if you have any questions about the project.

Regards,… Fred

Thanks for dropping in @ffdixon, glad to have you here.

I’ve used BigBlueButton for online courses quite some time ago, but haven’t had the opportunity to use it recently.
