Initially, following this, I was in my root- and I learned about ‘untracked files’. As I already have a git account, I also learned about git config --list so I can deduce which settings I already have.

I must say that Mozzadrella’s advice on not using ‘git add .’ is well-taken!

Also, it’s amazing how much easier git is to use once you understand it.
