I am planning a hackathon with some of my fellow students (seconde time now ) and we use GitHub for planning and coding things. But we can not make everything public so a github organisation account (with private repos) would fit our needs perfectly. But for arround 10 persons its too expensive for us. Is there any chance of discount just like for our student accounts?
GitHub partners with Major League Hacking, the official student hackathon league.
To organize a hackathon with support from GitHub, simply become an MLH member (it’s free!):
If this is your first hackathon as a MLH member, GitHub will provide a $1,000 grant to be your first sponsor. You’ll also receive one sponsored ticket to Hackcon, the conference for hackathon organizers.
Major League Hacking provides GitHub collateral and swag to all MLH Member Events, and runs our #MyOctocat drawing contest at all hackathons.
If you have further questions please inquire with MLH:
Please remind your participants that all students are welcome to apply for the GitHub Student Developer Pack at:
The Pack includes unlimited free private repositories for your individual account while you’re in school, plus valuable offers from our partners.
At this time we do not offer free private organization repositories to students. As a workaround, you can use private repositories in your individual account to work in teams for class projects by adding collaborators:
