School is stressful enough without losing access to your code. In the last week, an action we took to fight abuse of the GitHub Student Developer Pack meant that some students temporarily lost access to their private repositories, without notice.
We’re really sorry this happened: we never want to put a student in a position where they can’t access their work.
So how will we fix this moving forward?
Students will have full access to their code and private repositories while they verify their accounts, with a 30-day window to give them plenty of time. Students will also receive an email informing them of what is going on, and next steps to help us get it sorted.
In the meantime, we want to get everyone back up and running as soon as possible. If your account has been locked, please reapply using the “I do not have a school-issued email” drop-down option to attach official, dated supplementary proof of current affiliation. We’ll make sure your application is processed quickly so you can get back to your school work.
If you have any questions, or you want to talk about what happened, you can reach out to me directly at email@example.com.
Thank you for learning with us
