Github Classroom - Create classrooms in existing organization

(Jens Buysse) #1

Dear all

I’m experimenting with GitHub Classroom. One of my colleagues has created an organization of which I am a member. I want to create a new classroom for one of my courses (distributing assingments and follow-up seems perfect this way!) but I cannot create a new classroom: I get the following error message:

“another owner has already added this organization to github classroom”

Am I not understanding something, or am I doing something wrong?

Kind regards

Jens Buysse

Hey @eothein,

You’ll have to ask the other administrators of that organization to invite you, they can provide the link to the Classroom and you will be able to access it if you’re an organization administrator.

It’s only possible to have one Classroom per GitHub organization - so I think you’re getting the error because you’re trying to create a second classroom. There is an open issue where you can find a discussion about whether / how this is likely to change in the future.

Thank you for your response. Indeed, I thought I could make multiple classrooms per organization e.g. Organization my College and for every course a classroom.

Kind regards
