Expired Account Policy


My academic account expired on Jan 30th. I’ve sent several renewal requests and support messages since my academic account expired but have not heard back. I am still a full-time PhD student and am growing concerned that my private repositories will be suddenly deleted. Can someone let me know:

  1. What is the removal policy on expired accounts? Do the private repositories automatically just disappear after a certain date or is there some manual staff intervention before deletion is performed?

  2. I submitted the requisite ID card with expiration date clearly marked. It has been at least 2-3 months and I have no communication from GitHub on any of my contact attempts. Is there anything that could be holding up the renewal process?
